Four new types of iodo-bridged binuclear platinum complexes [Pt2AI5] (A = dimethylamine, pyridine, 2-methylpyridine, and o-toluidine) (a-d) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity, thermal analysis, IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectra techniques. The cytotoxicity was investigated by MTT assay. The results indicate that complexes (a-d) have certain cytotoxicity against Bel-7402, HCT-8 and Hela cell lines. The complex a, c, and d display increased cytotoxicity than cisplatin against HCT-8, Bel-7402 and Hela cell lines, respectively. The results suggest that these complexes have selectivity against the tested carcinoma cell lines, with the amine ligand having an important effect on the cytotoxicity.
