. The present study investigated the effect of gossypin, a flavonoid compound on renal carcinoma growth and explored the underlying mechanism. The results demonstrated that gossypin administration to the mice model of renal carcinoma suppressed xenograft tumor growth in dose-dependent manner. Moreover, the expression of p-PI3K and p-Akt proteins showed a prominent decrease in mice model of renal carcinoma on treatment with gossypin in dose-dependent manner. The expression of p-mTOR in mice model of renal carcinoma was also suppressed by gossypin treatment. Gossypin treatment targeted the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF kappa B) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in renal carcinoma mice model. Exposure of gossypin caused a significant (p < 0.05) decrease in viability of renal carcinoma cells in dose-dependent manner. It inhibits invasion and migration potential of renal carcinoma cells. Therefore, gos-sypin inhibits renal carcinoma growth by targeting the pathways which drive inflammatory cascade. Thus, gossypin may be developed as an important therapeutic agent for the treatment of renal carcinoma.
